Midwest Family Mutual Enters the State of Washington icon

Midwest Family Mutual Insurance Company (MFM) is now actively writing commercial lines of business in the state of Washington. This will serve as our 21st state, up from a 7 state regional carrier in 2008 when we started this extraordinary expansion effort. In the state of Washington, we will look to build our presence quickly. In the 1st quarter of 2018, we hired Andy Dickerson, an experienced marketing manager with extensive experience working with Insurance Agents. He resides in the Seattle area and has been actively writing business for MFM in the state of Oregon for the past 18 plus months. To say he's "chomping at the bit" to start putting business on the books in his own back yard would be an understatement. In fact, he already appointed a handful of Agents last month in the state of Washington in anticipation of our ability to write our first policy. He'll continue to appoint and train quality Agents in the early part of 2020.

MFM's ability to develop new products and enter new states is once again demonstrated in what is the final chapter of a long expansion effort that commenced in 2008. Over the course of the last 11 years, we have grown our geographic reach in a way that allows us to focus on more exclusive Agency representation, diversifies our book of business, and irons out the volatility of our financial results. For Agents, the value of this effort is best demonstrated by our ability to handle larger, more geographically disperse commercial accounts while maintaining our Agents' franchise value. For our policyholders, the value of our expansion will be seen in our ability to handle your Washington operations. For policyholders outside of Washington, please know that our geographic dispersion positions us for less financial volatility which results in a more measured approach to our renewal terms when weather related losses are locally incurred.

Lastly, please know that although this is the final chapter of a 21 state vision that started back in 2008, it doesn't mean we don't intend to continue growing our geographic reach. In 2019, MFM filed for admittance in another 10 states. Just as we've found it to be beneficial to policyholders, agents, and our organization as a whole to expand westward in the past decade, we intend to take our show south and east in 2020 and beyond. Admittance for both MFM and its wholly owned subsidiary Midwest Family Advantage have been filed in Michigan, Kentucky, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, and West Virginia. Those states will represent a continued expansion of our products and services that will take place over the next decade representing growth opportunities while maintaining limited and consistent Agency representation across our more mature territories. All the while, we aim to provide the same top notch claims and policy service levels you've come to expect! We believe that our Midwest values have played well as we've expanded in the Southwest and Northwest, and we know they'll be appreciated in the state of Washington.

Thanks so much for your business!
